Pressestimmen

“The book is really what is says to be – it introduces the “Blockchain Basics” without formulas or programming. And still, does it in a serious way, which allows you to “take home” the knowledge after reading it.” (vitoshacademy.com , May, 2018)“The book could be used as a textbook or simply to help structure a presentation on blockchain. … I think that the book achieves its objectives: to explain to a nontechnical audience what the blockchain is, how it works, and where it can be applied. It should also allow the reader to understand a lot of the hype that surrounds blockchain and to differentiate the ways in which the term is used.” (Computing Reviews, October, 2017)“This book presents a very intuitive and comprehensive introduction to the blockchain technology. It is useful to understand the concept and to find analogies to explain blockchain to people that are not familiar with it. The book is concisely written and well structured, so that the reader can easily follow and understand the presented concepts.” (Nicolas Kube, Financial Markets and Portfolio Management, Vol. 32, 2018)

As an economics student I wanted to learn what the Blockchain is, how it works and how it may change our economy. I had a look at some books on this subject such as "Blockchain Revolution", "Blockchain Blueprint for a new economy" and "Blockchain: The simple guide to everything you need to know". However, none of these books were convincing from my point of view. They make too many assertions and promises while having too little facts and explanations.I recently became aware of this book and gave it a try. First, I borrowed it from the library later I decided to buy one copy for myself because it is a real gem. What makes this book stand out from all other books about Blockchain? It is well structured, it has a didactic concept, it explains the technical concepts of blockchain in plain language and it has a common thread that keeps all chapters together. This may sound trivial, but it is actually that does all that. No hype, no marking speech, no wild speculations and no unsubstantiated promises. Instead this book focuses on facts, concepts and technical principles. Everyone who read one of the books mentioned above will appreciate the objective tone and the fact-based explanations of this book.If you really want to understand blockchain: This book is the one you are looking for!

I have heard a lot about the Blockchain and that it will cause a lot of changes in the service industry. So somehow it seems to be important. Unfortunately everything I read so far was beyond my (average) technical mind. Either I was flooded with formulas or technical terms or the Blockchain was explained in a way I just could not understand at all. This book clearly made a difference. I has a clear structure which can easily followed even by average people. It has been split up in 25 easy to read chapters, which made it possible to gain a good understanding of the subject. Having finished the book I am now able to understand the articles you usually find searching the internet in respect to the Blockchain. Furthermore I am now able to habe a better understanding of all the crypto currencies (like Bitcoin) as I have a general understanding of the underlying technology (with some of its limitations). From my point of view a brilliant explanation of the subject because it all comes across so simply. Therefore 5 stars out of 5. Well done!

It is not only for dummies. It is for everyone, even for ones who think they understand blockchain. Every chapter starts with a metaphor which makes you understand easily what kind of problem Blockchain resolves. I ve been reading a lot about blockchain on internet or from books, this book made me understand many things which had not been very clear to me because of this metaphor approach. I would say for example the best description of proof of work is in this book. The structure of the book is also great. You really understand what that chapter talks about and what kind of problem it really deals. Every chapter starts with a summary/link of the previous chapter (like the Block Headers in blockchain) and finishes with the summary of the chapter (like the head in blockchain). So when you read forward from chapter to chapter you really build blocks one after the other like in blockchain. I really recommend to everyone, beginners or advance people. Everybody can learn something from it.
